Who are we?

At the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Bristol Biomedical Research Centre, we conduct innovative research to make improvements in healthcare.

We take science from the laboratory into the world, and develop new drugs, treatments or health advice.

What are we up to?

Hazel, our Chief Operating Officer, can tell you a lot more about what research we do…

What do you work on?

“My organisation carries out medical research studies, to help understand why people get ill, how we can treat them most effectively and how we can stop them getting unwell in the first place.”

Who do you work with?

“I work with a group of researchers and doctors who are designing and carrying out these trials – my job is to run everything behind the scenes so that they can focus on their work. So my team and I manage the finances and the people and make sure that all the paperwork has been done correctly.”

Thank you to Hazel Phillips of the NIHR Bristol Biomedical Research Centre for helping us make this virtual tour!
