We are a group of passionate geeks with a breadth of experience – scientists, analysts, development specialists and the generally curious. The Lightyear team is made up of a Board of Trustees and the Exec.

Benni, Fundraising Manager
benni@lightyearfoundation.org
Benni, an Italian communications and design professional, has lived in many different countries working in the development sector on multi-media publishing (with a particular focus on design and photography). She is intensely passionate about understanding global issues and exploring different cultures. And with this is mind has recently moved to London where she’s started to collaborate with the Lightyear Foundation: helping the organisation with its fundraising campaign and spreading its passion for science. |

Manchi, Communications Manager
manchi@lightyearfoundation.org
For the past 5 years, Manchi has been working in the education teams of not-for-profit organisations. She is immensely proud of having taken science outreach to the oddest of places: from getting farmers at agricultural shows to make music out of straws and listening to the harmonies of a coat hanger, to starting up conversations with young families centred on a scary taxidermy monkey specimen whilst standing in a cardboard box lit by fairy lights. She’s even won a prize for her science ambassador skills and will show you the certificate if you ask nicely. |

Pete, Volunteers Manager
psitch@lightyearfoundation.org
Pete knows things, lots of things and wants to know more. He has a PhD in particle physics and loves to get people thinking and asking questions. He strongly believes in the value of science and the scientific method – and how it allows us to understand and solve problems. In 2011, Pete was the science lead for one of the first science roadshows. When volunteering at the Ghana planetarium, Pete successfully used the projector to both terrify a class of 4-year-olds and wow them by showing where they lived in the cosmos. |

Svet, Teacher Support Manager
svet@lightyearfoundation.org
Svet’s deepest belief is that the wellbeing of humanity hinges on good science education. He recently finished a PhD in atomic and laser physics at Oxford, which gave him the opportunity to excite thousands of schoolchildren around the UK by blowing up hydrogen balloons and making things levitate in front of them. Currently back in the “real world”, he is helping to make rich companies richer as a management consultant – but maintains an unyielding passion for science. |
